What is TPD?
TPD stands for Tobacco Products Directive.
It aims to improve the functioning of the internal market for tobacco and related products, while ensuring a high level of health protection for European citizens.
Although designed for cigarettes, most of the requirements for e-cigarettes are stipulated in article 20.
More information including the directive itself can be found on:
Who is the UK regulator enforcing TPD?
The UK regulator is the MHRA. Guidance issues by the MHRA for producers and retailers can be found on the following:
When does TPD come into effect?
The UK Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 implement the TPD in the UK, and came into force on 20 May 2016.
Will all product P-Vaper currently sell be TPD compliant?
The large majority of products that P-Vaper sell will be TPD compliant. We will also be introducing some new lines which will be TPD compliant.
While TPD came into effect in May 2016 and taking into consideration the transitional periods notifications must be made by November 2016, P-Vaper and its brand partners have been busy preparing for implementation over the past year.
We have worked tirelessly to ensure that we have adhered to and gone beyond the requiremends set out by TPD. We communicate constantly with the MHRA and top stakeholders to ensure that we are well informed of all regulatory and industry requirements and standards. As such, you can be assured that P-Vaper products are of the highest of standard and fully TPD compliant.
Can I (the Retailer) still purchase 15, 30, 60 and 120ml bottles from P – Vaper after 19 November 2016?
The MHRA are happy for P-Vaper to continue to supply the stock we have up until 19 May 2017.
You (the Retailer) can purchase the stock from now until then however these products are deemed non-compliant due to the bottle size. As such, you can no longer sell this stock after 19 May 2017 to consumers.
You may instead prefer to purchase the TPD Compliant eliquids, which will come in multipacks of 10ml bottles which you can sell indefinitely since they will be compliant.
