Nowadays, gynecological problems are becoming common. One of the common problems is termed as endometriosis. It affects 10 to 20 percent of women of childbearing age worldwide.
What is Endometriosis?
Every month ovaries produces hormones that cause swelling and thickening of endometrium (mucus cells linings) of the uterus. The uterus sheds these mucous membranous cells along with menstrual blood through the vagina during the menstruation. When endometrium grows outside of the uterus, it results in the endometriosis.
The presence of endometrium (uterine mucous membrane) outside the lining of uterus is known endometriosis. It causes painful periods and premenstrual pain.
Causes of Endometriosis
The exact cause of the this problem is not known, but the following several factors may play a role in development of this disease.
Endometriosis Treatment in Ayuevda
Endometriosis is caused by aggravation of Kapha humor, according to ayurveda. However, other two humors (Vata & Pitta) may be associated with the occurrence of this disease, but the dominant humor is Kapha.
Kapha dosha controls the endometrial tissue growth in the uterus and Pitta controls the uterine blood flow and menstrual cycle. Vata controls the hormonal functions through the brain by stimulation of hormone production. Pain in endometriosis is due to the Vata humor.
Derangement in natural functions of three humors causes endometriosis, as per ayurvedic science.
In modern science, there is no effective treatment for this disease, but ayurvedic medicines can definitely help to treat this disease.
